MERCY Malaysia, in partnership with MERCY Humanitarian UK (MHUK), has launched a campaign dedicated to assisting the earthquake-affected population in Morocco. Backed by a nine-year history of collaboration in the humanitarian field, both organisations remained committed to providing medical, health-related development and humanitarian assistance to communities in crises.

Morocco is in need of immediate assistance after a powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Marakkesh, toppling buildings and sparking a frantic search for survivors in the rubble in cities and towns across the region.

According to AlJazeera, this powerful quake has left a profound impact on the affected region, marking the strongest seismic event in over 120 years, as confirmed by the US Geological Survey.

Thousands of people are still vulnerable to collapsing buildings and scarce food, with many having no option but to sleep outdoors. Your funding means a lot to us, as we continue to serve these vulnerable communities.

Five days following the devastating earthquake that struck southwest of Marrrakech on 8th September, the number of people that were affected by the earthquake stands at 300,000 people, with at least 5,530 to be injured and 10,000 feared to be missing. The number of casualties expected to increase as the search and rescue operation continue.
